THE REBBETZIN'S COURTYARD In the Courtyard of the Kabbalist, Book 2

Narrator Sam Guncler returns to Jerusalem in this audio sequel to Feuerman's IN THE COURTYARD OF THE KABBALIST. Listeners don't need to have listened to the earlier novel to follow this short story, but it helps to be a bit familiar with conditions in Israel in the recent past. Guncler does a fine job voicing the protagonist, Isaac, but is less convincing with the female characters. The biggest limit on what he can do, however, is in the text, which does not develop Isaac with enough subtlety and depth of character to give the listener full satisfaction with the story's conclusion.
