Vermont bartender Zara Rossi and hockey player Dave Beringer have a vacation fling. Later, he discovers Zara's adorable red-headed toddler--his daughter. Narrator Seraphine Valentine portrays Zara's reluctant romance with Dave using a pleasant tone and middle-register pitch. While her delivery of narrative lacks pizzazz, Zara's dialogue with Dave rings truer, and Valentine's voice becomes irresistible in baby Nicole's scenes. As Zara starts to trust Dave, Valentine incrementally alters Zara's prickly nature. While volume levels vary noticeably between Valentine and narrator Teddy Hamilton, he locks-in Dave as a regular guy who never forgot Zara. Hamilton's voice is deep, casual, and occasionally wondrous as Dave meets his daughter. Hamilton and Valentine work well together in depicting two people who change their mind about love.
