THE CREATORS: A HISTORY OF HEROES OF THE IMAGINATION

Historian Boorstin, a former Librarian of Congress, has written a sequel to his prize-winning tome, The Discoverers. Creators, in this case, run the gamut from gods of various faiths creating a universe to contemporary movie producers. The abridgment is well-done, with transitions so natural that there is never a good place to pause. Jackson, a California talk show host, sounds like a sage as he reads this massive work. His articulation conveys wisdom and scholarship. To master the content of The Creators is to become wise and scholarly. For those who can't handle all that while driving to work, the presentation is still informative and entertaining. D.W.K.
