Former Librarian of Congress Boorstin's intelligent and popular sequel to The Discoverers will appeal to the large audio audience of historical works. While the length of this program is formidable, the book is suitable for audio: ideas are explained clearly and straightforwardly, and the expert biographical sketches at the heart of the book are lively and vivid. Sometimes one wishes for pictures of the art and architecture Boorstin describes, but illustrations are absent from the print versions as well.
