CRIMINAL CONVERSATION

A young mob leader and the wife of the district attorney investigating him fall in love. The wife, a teacher, knows nothing of her lover's vocation or her husband's surveillance. Hunter, who also writes as Ed McBain, shows his usual brilliant plotting. Colacci has a multitude of voices and inflections which distinguish the many characters in this novel. However, sound level changes divert the listener's attention. The rest of the elements are nearly perfect, resulting in an excellent production of a wonderful book.
