CROSSING BY NIGHT

This suspenseful novel traces the real-life World War II exploits of England's Elizabeth Pack in her search for the elusive Enigma encoding machine developed by the Nazis. This dual narration comes off well. Burr's vocal differentiation is quite good--she handles all of the narrative of Elizabeth's escapades, including a few male characters. The voice she uses for Elizabeth is very appealing. Weiderman's voices , confined to the meetings of the "old boy" intelligence network, are a little strained The special effects for all telephone and radio conversations distract and add little.
