Atkinson’s book about the 1991 Gulf War is simply too long and episodic to enjoy on tape. He jumps from story line to story line, but too much time lapses between the different segments, making them hard to follow. Jeff Riggenbach does a clear, professional reading, but having a single reader makes it difficult to keep track of the numerous characters. The audiobook will introduce you to a number of interesting and instructive anecdotes, but neither the book nor the format leads to any particular conclusions about what’s becoming known as “the video war.” W.W.G. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 97]
