ONE HOT PENGUIN

In this gem of a tale, Whistler, a runaway penguin from an Irish zoo, longs for a cooler world, and a small boy from Ballyfishangel helps him find it. Tommy Tiernan performs all characters with great skill and enthusiasm. His rendition of the penguin’s “whistling whisper of a voice” is especially fine as the emotional Whistler weeps, whines, and rejoices his way through the story. Tiernan also enjoys Rix’s puns and wordplay as he stretches out the suspense. (Will Whistler make it to the South Pole?) The story itself is good fun, full of the scrapes and small parental deceptions children thrive on. With his irresistible Irish accent, Tiernan makes it great for adult and child listeners alike.
