SILENT HEARTS

Accomplished narrator Cassandra Campbell brings listeners this complex story of two women, Liv and Farida, who are brought together by fate in postwar Afghanistan. Campbell moves smoothly and believably between Afghani Farida and American Liv. The women's unlikely friendship develops as they work together at an NGO for women. Campbell's voice is warm and rich as she recounts the ups and downs of these women's attempts to make the best of their marriages. Her narration is polished and mature, portraying the women as interesting and dynamic. We are drawn further into their dilemmas and bite our nails as the tension increases, especially for Farida, whose tyrannical husband threatens them both.
