EVA'S STORY A Survivor's Tale by the Stepsister of Anne Frank

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Ann Richardson

Biography & Memoir • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2010

Ann Richardson's affecting narration makes listeners feel like they're accompanying young Eva Geiringer as she leaves her home in Amsterdam for a cattle car to Auschwitz. Perhaps even more painful are the chapters from her mother's viewpoint because mother and daughter are powerless when they see each other's pain and humiliation. Richardson believably delivers the shocking horrors and occasional kindnesses with realistic accents and changes of tone as situations dictate. It's particularly moving to hear Eva and her mother meet Otto Frank, Anne's father, as they all worry about the fate of other family members. Mrs. Geiringer and Mr. Frank eventually marry, and Eva assists him in immortalizing his daughter through the publication of her diary. A helpful epilogue brings listeners up to date on these brave and unforgettable people. S.G.B. Winner of AudioFile Earphone Award © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2018]
