DAMASCUS GATE

by | Read by George Guidall

Literary Fiction • 19.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1998

Narrator George Guidall must have had a lot of fun reading this book. It shows in his flawless pacing, his superb accents and his ability to relate Stone's multilayered story in a fascinating way. Guidall reads with his usual robust voice and inhabits his Israeli, Arab and American characters by using wonderful accents and inflections. Foolish characters sound foolish, skeptics sound skeptical, millenarians sound, well, millenarian. And at every turn Guidall is having fun, fun, fun. The story is right out of today's headlines: Militants will blow up a coveted shrine, and it's up to Chris Lucas, an American in Jerusalem writing about religious fanatics, to unravel the plot. This is truly a feast for the ears and mind. R.I.G. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 99]
