OBAMA An Oral History

by | Read by Tom Parks, Fred Stella, Emily Sutton-Smith

Contemporary Culture • 13 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2018

This collection of remembrances sounds like the bones for a more complete history of the Obama presidency. All that's lacking is text to tie the quotes together--the flesh that would bring these bones to life. The snippets are revealing, at times even fascinating. But listeners will need a fairly solid knowledge of the facts for these episodes to have significance. The multiple-narrator format works well. The trade-offs between them are smooth. While the names of those quoted in the audiobook might be widely known, their voices are not, so listeners won't be startled to hear an unfamiliar voice attached to a familiar name. The necessary biographical intros interrupt the flow slightly, but only occasionally. R.C.G. © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2018]
