GREAT WORLD RELIGIONS: ISLAM

John Esposito, a distinguished Georgetown University professor and scholar of Islam, delivers 12 lectures about Islam. The presentation sounds as if he is standing in front of a podium and delivering lectures to a class. The recording quality, however, is excellent, and there is no interaction with an audience, so this is much better than a recording from a college class. Esposito has carefully crafted, and he carefully delivers, these lectures in an erudite, but never pedantic, manner. His presentation is clear and will be of interest to the individual seeking to understand the historical and contemporary significance of Islam. M.L.C.
