JOURNEY INTO DARKNESS

Patients suffering from depression and experienced professionals alternate dialogue in a one-hour informational program. The author reads in a whispering voice, accompanied by eerie music, as she recounts the discovery that her past experience with a deteriorating mental and physical state is called clinical depression. A lawyer describes a debilitating attack of the ailment in law school and tells how medication allowed him to return to a normal and productive life. Although it's possible that a sufferer would hear this program and seek help, it's more probable that friends or family might hear it, recognize the symptoms in someone they know, and be motivated to intervene.
