THE ANGRY ISLAND

Guy Radford visits an old friend on St. Marien Island in the West Indies, where he becomes embroiled in the violence and dissention of race relations. The upper-class British plantation owners are attempting to keep the free blacks in their place, leading lives of labor and poverty. Guy becomes trapped between his beliefs in equality and his desire for his host’s sister. Peter Wickham brings the island natives and landowners to life with subtle accents and credible characterizations.
