A pastiche of conversations between Vice President Joe Biden and various interviewers is held together by brief introductions by MSNBC broadcaster Mike Barnicle. This audio original is truly engaging. "Uncle Joe," as he refers to himself, is a born storyteller with a disarmingly folksy tone. Whether he's talking about the death of his son, Beau, or his 40 years in the government, Biden's message is one of hope and service. The interviews--with such notables as author George Saunders, NBC's Al Roker and Jenna Bush Hager, and philanthropist Melinda Gates--are somewhat repetitive, but each has its own flavor. His exchanges with Stephen Colbert are particularly noteworthy. Throughout, Uncle Joe proves to be a charming and energetic subject. Whether he is also a presidential candidate is brought up but never fully discussed. L.W.S. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: JANUARY 2019]
