COLD TOM

by | Read by Paul McGann

Children Ages 10+ • 3.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

This is a dark tale of the collision of two worlds. The "tribe," a people much like elves or gremlins, live upon the town common and stay clear of the humans they call the "demons." Tom becomes a pariah because he endangers the tribe through his clumsiness. He decides to leave, but his people are looking to kill him, so he can no longer be a threat to them. He tries to escape the town to live freely on his own, but a demon, Anna, captures him in hiding, and helps him to survive. Paul McGann tells the tale in a low, raspy voice that captures the tone and quality of the story. D.L.M.
