CUT THROAT

Ross Wakelin, an American rider whose reputation has been ruined by rumors that he has lost his nerve, is persuaded by a British friend to come to England as a trainer and rider of show horses for Oakley Manor. However, the murder of a horse before his arrival and several sinister events after he begins his new job draw Ross into dangerous intrigue. David Rintoul starts this book with a dramatic and exciting passage that gets the listener's attention immediately. His careful modulation of emotion, tone, and tempo is perfectly suited to the story and serves to convey its nonstop action and suspense.
