SHERLOCK HOLMES AND SELECTING A GHOST

by | Read by David Warner, William Windom, a Full Cast

Audio Theater • 2 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2003

Nothing is terribly memorable in this full-cast production. While both David Warner and William Windom are wonderful actors with particularly good reading voices, they’re not the ideal choices for Holmes and Watson. There are also a number of confusing elements to the program: It's an 1898 script, performed in 1999, in a 1940s’ style. While packaged as part of a "Family Listening Series" and included in the Children's section of their catalog, the play is hardly comprehensible by children. Other cast members are Samantha Eggar, Jeanette Nolan, and Norman Lloyd. Also included is "Selecting a Ghost," a humorous one-act play based on Conan Doyle's 1883 short story, in which a grocer (played by Ian Witcomb) inherits a medieval castle and seeks a ghost to haunt it.
