THE PAUL TEMPLE MYSTERIES

by | Read by a Full Cast

Audio Theater • 9.5 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2000

From 1938 until 1969, Francis Henry Durbridge wrote radio scripts for the BBC featuring novelist-cum-private detective Paul Temple and his journalist-wife, Steve. The BBC has finally made this popular series available for American listeners with THE PAUL TEMPLE MYSTERIES, a collection of three full-cast stories featuring Peter Coke as Paul and Marjorie Westbury as Steve. In "Paul Temple and the Geneva Mystery" (originally broadcast in 1965), Paul is asked to investigate the death of a London publisher whose wife believes he is still alive. In "Paul Temple and the Spencer Affair" (1957-58), a dead actress receives a gramophone with a note from an unknown admirer named Spencer. "Paul Temple and the Gilbert Case" (1954) has Paul and Steve trying to prove the innocence of Howard Gilbert, accused of killing his fiancée. Each of these traditional detective stories is beautifully produced and well acted. S.E.S.
