Another fine BBC adaptation, this P.D. James psychological thriller features gripping, in-the-moment performances by a talented cast. Produced with understated reserve and building the tension brick by brick until we perceive a disturbing wall of evil, this radio play is riddled with nuanced moments of emotional intensity. A perfect play to listen to on a dark, stormy night by the fire, THE SKULL BENEATH THE SKIN bears more resemblance to film noir than standard radio fare.
