THE DEATH AND LIFE OF BOBBY Z

When Tim Kearney receives a life sentence without parole, he assumes he'll spend the rest of his life behind bars. But the DEA offers to pass him off as a drug dealer he resembles in exchange for one of their agents. Darrell Larson is absolutely terrific as the new Bobby Z, with his California expressions and laid-back attitude. In addition, Larson's transitions between the thoughts of Tim Kearney, the "convict" and Bobby Z, the wealthy, hip surfer, are flawlessly executed, creating an action-packed ride for the listener. Larson's portrayal of drug world characters is full of sarcasm, wit and clever humor. Performances by Hell's Angels, DEA agents, female accomplices, ex-cons and an LSD "burnout" provide Larson with an outstanding opportunity to let out all the creative stops.
