TERNS OF ENDEARMENT

Narrator Bernadette Dunne expertly establishes a personal connection between listeners and the passengers on a cruise ship that breaks down in the Caribbean. Meg Langslow and her family are well defined, as are the rest of the travelers, in particular the boorish "Three Stooges" and four women who are on a writer's retreat. When passenger Desiree St. Christophe, a notorious has-been romance writer, disappears and a suicide note is discovered, the captain refuses to investigate. Through Dunne's seamless performance, listeners feel the passengers' dread, disgust, and, finally, outrage over the incompetence of the cruise line. Dunne will have listeners cheering as they mutiny to fix solve the possible murder, along with the problems with the ship. V.M.G.
