DEER MOUSE AT OLD FARM ROAD

This whimsical children's book will be a delight to listeners 4 to 10 years old. It features a distracted deer mouse who is so busy readying her nest for winter that she fails to notice a tomcat watching her. Komisar's perky voice stretches out this short story by adding drama. She sounds awed and hushed when Deer Mouse is creeping around at night; then she speeds up when she's in danger or about to have her babies. Sound effects for the cat's meow, owls and crickets add a theatrical feel. One side of the tape has a sharp bong for page-turning signals and the other does not.
