Traci Odom's narration style is one of high-quality invisibility. Her performance is nicely paced, steady, and varied enough to let the listener know when different characters are speaking--but unobtrusive at the same time. Her technique is sort of like air--a crucial thing, but not something a person generally thinks about. In this story, FBI profiler Kaely Quinn heads home to Nebraska to be with her sick mother. A series of fires draws Quinn's attention and her suspicion. Space heater accidents or arson? As she investigates, Quinn is confronted with issues of faith and her own past, which includes a serial-killer father. And is that romance in the air? A good listen bolstered by Odom's solid yet subtle narration. G.S. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2019]
