Author and narrator William Sieghart is not a trained therapist, nor is he an accomplished poet. He does, however, believe deeply in the therapeutic power of poetry, and in this audiobook he shares many of the poems he has prescribed in his "pop-up poetry pharmacies," which have taken place around Britain. Each poem is introduced with a list of conditions for which it can be prescribed and an explanation of how this particular poem can help. Sieghart delivers his own clear and compassionate text in the voice of a psychologist confiding a secret to a patient. This same tone is not ideal for all the poems he suggests, but it is always clear and understandable. D.M.H. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2019]
