DISTANCE

DISTANCE PRESENTS a frightening picture of a successful astronomer who discovers that he's lost the memory of the last two years. His recovering that memory, bit by agonizing bit, takes on the air of a compelling mystery. And that compulsion is enhanced by the careful reading provided by Alex Jennings, who fully embodies, in a vocal sense, the protagonist's fright. Jennings shares with listeners the haunting hopelessness, the near whines, the jubilation of occasional recollections. Both his rich but troubled voice and, particularly, his effective use of pauses add much to this narration, making it a highly positive audio experience.
