ANNE OF AVONLEA

In this sequel to the ever popular ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, Anne is now 16 and a teacher in small-town Avonlea. She faces new challenges, including gaining the respect of her students and governing the lively young twins whom Marilla has temporarily adopted. Narrator Shelly Frasier does a good job with this old-fashioned tale, capturing the spirit of breathless, impetuous Anne, as well as that of dry Marilla, busybody Mrs. Lynde, and a cast of other characters around town. Frasier never rushes, and she lets the lovingly detailed story unfold, creating again for us the beauty of Prince Edward Island at an earlier time.
