THE PROMISE OF A LIE

by | Read by Robertson Dean

Fiction • 10.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2004

Roughan's entertaining murder mystery is ably read by Robertson Dean. When psychologist David Remler finds that he's being framed for a murder by a patient who seemingly doesn't exist, he must search for the mysterious woman. As expected, Remler is saved, albeit in an all too tidy ending that causes one's head to shake but does tie up the loose ends. Dean handles the courtroom scenes effectively, capturing both the tone and emotions of the attorneys and witnesses. He also convincingly conveys Remler's indignation at the accusations thrown his way. While not a classic, THE PROMISE OF A LIE is a satisfying thriller that maintains listener interest. D.J.S.
