MOONLESS NIGHT

by | Read by Terry Wale

History • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

James is the sort of person they write legends about. A participant in the mass escape that was the basis for the movie THE GREAT ESCAPE, he made 12 escape attempts during his five years of German captivity. A persistent chap, his last escape was from a concentration camp. Terry Wale does a fine job reading James's story. He has a clear, dignified voice that is wonderfully understated in expression. In fact, he speaks as some might expect a British officer to speak. However, the production often sounds as if it had been recorded in a muffled echo chamber. This is unpleasant to the listener and does not do Wale's performance justice. M.T.F. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 06]
