In Sundown, Oregon, there are gourmet meals, wilderness treks with exotic birds and plants, and unusual characters, including Lois Keller, a crime writer and environmentalist. When her estranged husband, Andy, comes to town with his “assistant,” Gayleen, all legs and bare skin, and sporting a bumper sticker that reads “I Love Spotted Owls. Roasted,” the natives go ballistic. Patricia Gallimore tries to differentiate one character from another with her sharp British enunciation, but poor production quality gets in the way. Words echo and tones are fuzzy, making it difficult to hear dialogue or narrative and requiring the listener to constantly adjust the volume while missing the details of the mystery.
