A SPECTACLE OF CORRUPTION

by | Read by Michael Page

Mystery & Suspense • 14 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2004

And you thought the election of 2000 was theatrical. As it turns out, it doesn't hold a candle to these fictitious events surrounding the Parliamentary elections in England in 1722. Benjamin Weaver, a private investigator, has been framed for murder, and all leads point to the power brokers of the Tory-Whig race. Michael Page creates an astounding array of characters, all credible and human, while keeping this political mystery humming. Page's British accent is robust and commanding; there's so much dialogue and first-person narration that it's difficult to tell what he normally sounds like. Moving from character to character flawlessly, he makes this production interesting and eminently worthwhile. R.I.G. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/ SEP 04]
