THE GREAT UNRAVELING Losing Our Way in the New Century

by | Read by Paul Krugman

Contemporary Culture • 6 hrs. • Abridged • © 2003

Krugman, trained as an economist and not as an actor, does a decent job reading this book, which is a collection of recent shorter writings, mostly his twice weekly op-eds for the New York Times. His reading is solid, clear and properly paced. The book is filled with invective for the Bush administration and his reading clearly communicates his contempt. The book covers a wide range of topics, both economic and political. The general thesis is thus: the American polity was getting better during the '90s, but America has gone into freefall during the present administration. In addition to the Bush administration and its allies, he strongly criticizes many corporate leaders for their malfeasance. M.L.C. 2004 Audie Award Finalist
