Coontz and his collaborator have turned out another thriller in the Deep Black series. With the help of narrator J. Charles, it doesn't get much better than this. NSA operative Charlie Dean is called out when his longtime friend Dr. James Kegan, a noted biologist, disappears and a corpse is found in his home. Dean and his romantic interest, Lia, search for the missing scientist and soon encounter terrorists who threaten world annihilation by virus. Charles has a unique voice coupled with a gifted delivery. He handles this story so well you soon forget it’s actually pretty mediocre.
