Author and narrator Laura Hankin delivers an impressive performance of this entertaining novel about motherhood and friendship. The story often feels easygoing and fun but at other times provides a darkly satirical look at motherhood. Claire is a down-on-her-luck musician who has been hired to perform for overprivileged babies. She's quickly bewitched by their upper-crust Manhattan mommies. The plot unfolds through multiple perspectives as each mother harbors her own crazy and dysfunctional secrets. While some are relatable, and some are cringe-worthy--listeners will have no problem differentiating characters. If you're happy and you know it, grab this audio. If you're a mother with small kids, listen to this audiobook. If you like getting lost in other people's misery and enjoy strong plot twists--this is for you.
