SEA MUSIC is an audiobook of ambitious scope, spanning the secrets of three generations of a Cornish family. When Kate, the youngest family member, discovers hidden relics in the beloved family home, everyone’s future is affected, reminding the listener how closely the future is linked to the past. MacDonald’s plot promises intriguing mystery, but the pace of the book is slow. Jilly Bond gives a capable performance, moving deftly from character to character, but her voice is low and difficult to hear. Ultimately, the novel is worth reading, but the audiobook is not an effortless listen. L.B.F. © AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/ MAR 05]
