ARNIE THE DOUGHNUT

Arnie is a doughnut who is horrified to learn that Mr. Bing, the man who picked him out at the Downtown Bakery, is going to EAT him. In order to avoid his fate, Arnie must prove that he can do something else useful. Bodyguard? Chauffeur? Personal fitness trainer? L.J. Ganser delivers a clear, carefully enunciated narration that gets livelier when he's performing dialogue. (Arnie when agitated is particularly affecting.) Laurie Keller's (THE SCRAMBLED STATES OF AMERICA, OPEN WIDE: TOOTH SCHOOL INSIDE) hilariously wacky illustrations, replete with jokes and asides not reproduced in the audio narration, are an essential part of the experience.
