Hard work brings its rewards. When young Carl desperately wants his own boat, he happens upon a collection of wood washed up lakeside. But how can he get the additional supplies and expertise he needs with no money of his own? Odd jobs, which include picking strawberries, mending fishing nets, and moving rocks, are the answer.
