Buchanan's mystery starts with a bang. A wealthy man is incinerated when his vintage Thunderbird explodes, and on the same day two people are executed at a Miami Beach strip club. Twelve years later the Cold Case Squad continues the earlier investigations. Robertson Dean's competent, precise narration keeps events moving quickly, providing distinctive voices for a wide variety of characters. Though his vocal agility is limited, he clearly differentiates veteran Homicide Detective Burch, Cuban Detective Nazario, and the unpredictable squad boss, Lieutenant K.C. Riley.
