DEAD-END DETECTIVE

Narrator Laura Faye Smith portrays Darby Piper, who is alarmed to learn that her partner in Two Girls Detective Agency, Samantha Porter, plans to dissolve the business. But before Samantha can act, she is murdered in a car crash, and Darby becomes the chief suspect. When Darby discovers that Samantha has left her entire estate to her nephew, Tate, Darby finds herself teaming with the former soldier as she tries to find the real killer. Smith creates unique character voices. She does an especially effective job of portraying the feisty 90-year-old Mrs. Burger, giving just the right voice to a woman who will be bettered by no one.
