HANGING FALLS Timber Creek K-9, Book 6

Narrator Nancy Wu returns for Book 6 of the Timber Creek K-9 series as Colorado deputy Mattie Cobb and her canine sidekick, Robo, investigate a murder. Mattie herself finds the body while hiking near Hanging Falls. Then, Robo's tracking abilities lead her through the woods to a vagabond who may have witnessed more than he wants to admit. Wu's portrayal of Mattie--gentle toned and thoughtful--obscures Mattie's rugged backcountry and law enforcement traits. Wu uses a more sonorous, plodding tone for most of the men in the story, with angry undertones for a suspicious pair of brothers and the leaders of a conservative religious cult.
