Narrator Nancy Wu's pace starts off slow and steady--just like the search-and-rescue techniques depicted in this mystery set in the Pacific Northwest. Deputy Mattie Cob and her dog, Robo, are asked to join the team that is looking for a lost 9-year-old boy named River Allen, who wandered off from the trailer of his mother, a movie star named Crystal. Once the teams find an old grave that contains two small bodies, they realize that River is in grave danger. Wu's voice takes on a sense of urgency, and her pace quickens as the team works even harder to find him. Wu gives each character a distinct personality. A daring rescue, a sweet wedding, and well-depicted family dynamics make this an enjoyable listen. E.E.S. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2025]
