JUSTICE FOR NONE

In this multifaceted story of betrayal, deception, and murder, Boyd Carter, a disturbed WWI veteran, goes on trial for murdering his ex-wife after a daring jail escape with his cellmate. Through skillful nuances of character, John Peakes depicts the attorneys with finesse as they plot and counterplot throughout the trial, building to taut, emotional courtroom scenes. The pace is fast; the characters are easily differentiated through tone, pitch, and inflection, as are gender differences. This suspenseful mystery propels the listener all the way to the final scenes, which cast the drama in a satisfyingly unexpected light. G.D.W.
