This title captures the best features of the series: a single skillful narrator speaking about some area of knowledge, punctuated by actors portraying the historical figures at various points. In describing the history and ideas behind the Constitution, Walter Cronkite, "the most trusted man in America," does his usual splendid job in his authoritative newscaster's voice. The actors sound like an educated eighteenth-century American elite and, to a person, speak precisely and meaningfully. Short musical punctuations round out an effective and informative presentation.
