Narrator Mary Jane Wells's mesmerizing performance is nothing short of amazing in this modern-day audiobook inspired by Jane Austen's PERSUASION. Susan Napier's family has fallen on hard times, and she is determined to save their flagship restaurant and their legacy. But when an old flame, chef Chris Baker, reemerges from her past, there's more than just attraction and tension still simmering below the surface. With remarkable ease, Wells transitions between an impressive array of English and Scottish characters and accents--all while adeptly capturing every emotional nuance. Romance is tertiary to the family and restaurant drama, and despite the slow pace of the story, Wells's excellent narration energizes the well-developed characters.
