This second installment in the Richard Jackson saga continues the series' focus on 1950s Americana and Ricky's streak of phenomenal successes. Listeners will enjoy Ricky's time in Hollywood as he improves his acting. Berman's rendition of actor John Wayne is faultless. In other tongue-in-cheek action, Ricky invents the curling wand, masters boxing and sword fighting, and saves young Billy Gates from drowning. Berman enhances the well-developed characters, particularly kind Ricky, as well as mouthwatering descriptions of meals and behind-the-scenes glimpses of movie making. Affectionate moments of family life, especially those that include Ricky's mum, an English WWII heroine, also contribute to this enjoyable listen.
