The subtitle tells it all: Reichert was the first detective assigned to the case and one of the last to interview killer Gary Ridgway before he went to prison for life. Part police procedural and part ego-trip, this memoir is capably read by Michael Prichard. He keeps an even pace, injects life into reported conversations, and doesn't overdramatize. Ridgway confessed to more murders than any other serial killer and helped locate many of the bodies in return for avoiding the death penalty. Fans of true-crime reporting will enjoy this. J.B.G.
