BIRD UNCAGED An Abolitionist's Freedom Song

by | Read by Marlon Peterson

Biography & Memoir • 6 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2021

Marlon Peterson is an excellent narrator of this memoir about his path to prison and beyond. The son of Trinidadian immigrants, Peterson was a standout student in high school who struggled with rage, shame, and trauma. Ultimately, as a young man, he participated in a robbery that resulted in the deaths of two people. He spent 10 years in New York prisons, where he found himself and began to help others. This audiobook doesn't break much new ground in the expanding literature of prison reform, but Peterson's well-paced story is moving, and he delivers it with both passion and compassion. A worthwhile listen. G.S. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2021]
