At 16, Maggy couldn't care less about school. She's more interested in drawing those she observes from the Blue Mirror Café downtown. It's her escape from her alcoholic mother and the dingy apartment where they both live. When Maggy meets Cole, a mesmerizing street teen, she's swept into psychological danger she must struggle to escape. Katherine Kellgren is an excellent match for this book for older teens. Her deep, smoky voice reflects not only Maggy's gritty lifestyle, but also Cole's manipulations and the harshness of street life. Her character distinctions are clear and fitting with respect to the tone of this somber novel. J.M.S. (c) AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/ MAR 05]
