THE FOUR PHASE MAN

There's so much going on at the beginning of this thriller that, even with Hill's clear, dependable narration, it's hard to track the story line. This complex story pits the last two of the Cold War's ultimate spies and killers (4 phase men) against each other--amid a Chinese attempt to subvert the U.S. Presidency with a well-placed mole. Hill's striking narration makes the initially choppy and confusing plot palatable, and when the story begins to make sense, Hill's performance shines. The listener is captivated as Hill describes a female congressional aide's escape from capture by hiding in a storm drain.
